In 1925, Locarno hosted a historic diplomatic conference that led to the signing of the Locarno Treaties, marking a decisive step toward European reconciliation after World War I. One hundred years after that event, the Peace Route has been renovated and will be inaugurated in its new guise on June 23, 2025.
The route runs in 11 stages between Locarno, Muralto, Minusio, Orselina and Ascona, passing through emblematic places related to the 1925 conference. Each stop is accompanied by information panels and digital content telling the story of the Agreements signed by Germany, France, Belgium, Italy and the United Kingdom to ensure peace in Europe.
This itinerary is not only a trip down memory lane, but a topical invitation to reflect on the value of dialogue, mediation and cooperation among peoples.
