Vento di Pace (Wind of Peace): 100 Years of the Locarno Treaties

From 23 June to 27 October 2025, the City of Locarno, in collaboration with the City of Muralto, will present "Vento di Pace: 100 Years of the Locarno Treaties," an outdoor photography exhibition commemorating the centenary of the historic agreement.

Along the picturesque lakeside, symbolically bridging the two municipalities party to the pact, 21 large photographs printed on flags will be displayed. Swaying in the wind, these banners evoke the spreading of the "spirit of Locarno"—an ideal of peace as relevant today as ever in a world marked by new tensions.

Accompanied by quotes from notable figures connected to the Treaties, the images will lead visitors on an immersive journey, encouraging reflection on the significance of the agreement in today’s world. This visual and cultural tribute will transform the lakefronts of Locarno and Muralto into a pathway of peace and remembrance.

The exhibition stands out for its striking graphic impact, inspired by the rational and geometric aesthetics of the 1920s - the era when the Locarno Treaties were signed.

The official opening is scheduled for Monday, 23 June, at 5:30 p.m.
