A journey into the past through period newspapers and an exceptional guest who also happens to be an ancestor of the speaker. In this theatrical lecture, the ten days of the Peace Conference will be recounted and brought to life from the perspective of its lesser-known protagonists: the local population. Daily news and regional reports were dominated by surprising developments: was Stresemann poisoned? Briand is missing, did he go to the cinema? Will Mussolini show up?

The aim is to commemorate the event while helping the audience better understand how, almost overnight, the people of Ticino and especially those in Locarno, a quiet village on Lake Maggiore, suddenly found themselves at the center of international attention. It is a look at the Esprit de Locarno as experienced by the residents themselves.

Simone Romerio

Born in 1966, he teaches history and political institutions at the SSPSS in Giubiasco. In 2013, with his Cyranorêve Theatre Company, he staged the historical play Hosts, Bandits and Priests Conceal Ambiguous Secrets..., set in the Locarno bailiwick of the late 1700s, to mark the anniversary of Locarno's entry into the Swiss Confederation. He is currently a staff member of ATAS (Accademia Ticinese di Arti Sceniche).
